해변의 멜로디 (Melodies of beach)

이스라엘 도착한 첫 날 밤, 해변가에서 그녀와 이야기를 나누다 중요한 한 가지를 깨달았다. 무턱대고 이스라엘로 따라오긴 했으나, 만약 그녀가 다른 친구와 여행이 계획되어 있다면 큰일이었다. 이야기를 나누는 중에도 계속 이스라엘인 친구 이야기를 계속 하던 터라 조금 불안했다. 하지만 이스라엘까지 온 이상 체면차릴 것도 없었다. "여행 계획은 있니?". 나는 그녀에게 물었다. "아니, 넌?". 그녀가 대답했다. 다행이었다. 난 아무 계획이 없어서 대충 둘러댔다. 먼저 취리히에서 말한대로 해변에서 놀고 싶었고, 이왕 이스라엘에 온 김에 유명한 사해에 가보고 싶다고 말했다. "같이 다닐래?". 나는 조심스럽게 물었고, 제발 그렇다고 말하길 바랐다. "그래". 듣기 좋은 말이었다.

 

다음 날, 우리는 해변에서 놀기로 했다. 아침에 일어나 그녀가 있는 호스텔로 가는데, 날이 무척 더웠다. 다행히 한국처럼 습하지는 않았지만, 이스라엘의 햇볕은 뜨겁고 강렬했다. 곧 도착한 호스텔 로비에는 여행객들로 가득했다. 유명한 곳인 것 같았다. 곧 그녀가 내려왔고, 해변에 가기 전에 먼저 쇼핑을 가도 되겠냐고 물어봤다. 모자 아니면 해변용 슬리퍼를 사야한다고 했던 것 같다. 나는 전혀 개의치 않았고, 구글 지도를 보니 근처에 전망대가 있어 가는 김에 전망대도 가자고 했다. 그렇게 우리 둘은 텔-아비브의 뜨거운 거리를 함께 걸었다.

전망대에서 해변으로 가는 길에 있었던 미술관 옆 카페? 식당? 강당? Maybe a cafe? or retaurant? or Auditorium?

찾아보니 미술관이 아니라 국립 연극 자료관이다. This is the Habima National Theatre Archive, not the art museum. I searched it.

아마 정치 풍자인 듯 하다. It looks like a political parody.

 

해변에는 오후가 한참 되어서야 도착했다. 햇볕은 여전히 뜨거워서 바다에는 충분히 들어갈 수 있었다. 기억하기로 바닷물은 굉장히 따뜻했다. 우리는 한동안 파도를 타며 물놀이를 즐겼다. 중간에 구차한 방법으로 끼를 부렸는데, 후에 얘기해보니 그녀도 이상하다고 느꼈다고 한다... 물놀이를 마치고 우리는 모래사장위의 긴 선베드에 누웠다. 선베드에 누워 그녀가 좋아하는 음악, 내가 좋아하는 음악을 번갈아가며 들었다. 그녀의 가슴팍 주머니에서 음악이 계속 흘러나왔다. 해는 서서히 수평선 아래로 가라앉고 있었고, 몸에 묻은 바닷물은 말라 시원함을 넘어 추워지려고 하고 있었다. 그렇지만 나는 그 순간이 오래도록 이어지길 바랐다. 그 순간이 날 잡아당기고 있었다.

우리가 앉은 곳은 무료였다. Our place was free.

An old couple

 

On the first night at Israel, I realized an important thing while talking with her. I followed her recklessly to Israel, but it was a big problem if she already had a plan with any other friends. She mentioned about an Israeli friend, so I was little worried. But I was already in Israel. I asked her directly. “Do you have any plan for your trip?”. “No. You?” She answered. I was relieved. I had no plan but to say that I want to play at beach as I said earlier in Zurich and visit the famous dead sea. “Do you want to company me?”. I asked cautiously, and hoped she say yes. “Yes”. That sounded pleasant.

 

Next day, we planned to go to beach. It was really hot on the way to her hostel. Fortunately it was humid as in Korea, but the sunlight in Israel was hot and strong. Soon I arrived at the hostel lobby, and it was full of tourists. It seems like a famous place. Soon she came down at the lobby, and asked if I mind about shopping before going to the beach. As I remember, she needed to buy a hat or a beach flip-flop. I didn’t mind, and because there was an observatory near the shopping place, I suggested going there as well. Then we walked together along the hot streets of Tel-Aviv. 

 

We arrived at the beach later in the afternoon. Sunlight was still strong so that we could dive in to the sea. The water was really warm as I remember. We surfed for a while. While we were surfing, I flirted with her in a very awkward way. After some time I talked about it, and she said she felt it was really awkward... After the surfing, we lied on long sun beds on the beach. Lying on the sun beds, we listened to her favorite songs and mine in turn. The music was keep playing from a pocket near her chest. The sun was sinking below the horizon, and the water on my body was vaporing, which made me feel cold not cool. For all that, I wanted that moment to last long. The moment was pulling me.
